What is a vision board?

A vision board is a collage with a collection of images or objects arranged in a way to help you manifest your goals or vision.

This vision board can be physical or digital. It can be a picture on your wall or a collage

The vision is a kind of magic guide helping us to attract resources that help us to go to the top. If the mountain is bigger it helps us to see where we are going.

A vision is like a mountain that is always visible, not just like a small stone. that can be in the shadow of another bigger stone.

As the image of your dream takes root inside you, you start to shift the way you think and act. That image starts percolating in your mind, both consciously and subconsciously, and you start put- ting out feelers and taking action, day by day, that moves you closer. to your dream.

Why do I recommend creating a Vision board?

My mum always encouraged me to draw everything I want for christmas and to send a letter to Santa. And  it worked. That visualizing our dreams and wishes will help us to get anything what we want is now scientifcally proven.  Everything we want to create in this world we need to imagine first in our mind. iI we want t travel we have an image in our mind where do we want to go, If we wat to create a new system we need to see the scheme before we draw it.

A Vision Board is a visual reminder of your intentions and helps to stay focused during challenging times A vision Board can help build confidence and self-belief Vision boards let you vizualize your success.

A Vision Board will motivate you to take action and work towards the goals you have set.

By regularly looking at your vision board, you immerse yourself in a visual representation of what you want or hope to achieve. This helps create a positive and powerful image in your mind, making it easier to believe in your ability to achieve your goals.

To give you an example how simple it can work.  I had purchased beautiful prints of Venice in Italy for decorating   my new home enjyoing  my dream of italy and  pretty soon life invited  me drinking cappuccino at  Caffè Florian  in St. Mark's Square.

5 Types of Vision boards

I created different types of vision boards with my clients and for myself. We did use vision boards in strategy  workshops . leadership development programs and  today I do digital vision boards for my self and my clients. Here are five typical goals for creating a vision board:

  1. a visual representation of a personal vision statement or a corporate vision
  2. a vision board representing  your dream life,
  3. a vision board showing your  dream project outcome
  4. a visual of your your professional long term goals, like your 5-year plan. or 10 year plan
  5. a yearly vision board

 How do vision boards work

Producing a vision board will direct your mind to solutions using feelings and emotions and subconscoius creativity. Creating a Vision Board helps you clarify your goals and gives your mind a clear direction for where you want to go if you combine the process with positive affirmations and gratitude for the future you will just feel good and release creative energy.

4 Step Process for creating a Vision board

1. Clarify your vision

In over 20 years of strategy consulting vision boards have been part of my workshops.  The first decisions however  are to get clear on three things .

  1. the  specific purpose of the vision board
  2. the time frame you have  in mind
  3. do you create this  for yourself or with your team

Ask yourself the questions like:

What is the purpose of this vision board? What is it for?  Is the vision  board for your business, a project or your life? Is this a  vision board for the next year, 3 years, 5 years, your life?

Before we created  a vision board I loved to start with  a set of exercises:

Here are some powerful tools

  1. The wheel of life-for me personal
  2. The 7 S exercise for my business
  3. The dream your product or project
  4. The dream your future personality

I used  guided visioning meditations, Lego serious play and story telling to unlock the creativity and unblock limitations.

2.Gather your materials

Before you start you may want to decide if you want to do the vision board for yourself, with your team, physical or digital. Here are some materials I would use for creating a individual l vision board .

The Board:

Buy a beautiful corkboard, poster board , a picture frame  or whatever you would like to use to proudly display your vision.

Images:

  • Magazins with Images, or print images you found on pinterest.
  • Print pictures of people you may want to meet, you want to see as role models etc.
  • Pictures of Places , Symbols etc.
  • The ideal office you want to work in
  • Pictures of cities you would like to visit
  • Beautiful pictures that inspire and motivate you
  • Picture of your friends and family
  • Picture of yourself getting the award
  • People you may want to meet in some way

Fixing and Decoraation

You will need this  to make sure all your goodies stick!

  • Gold or coloured Push pins to fix your images on the  corkboard.
  • Glue Stick like Pritt
  •  Gold Washi Tape , double sided tapes like from tesa.

Quotes

If you are a quote lover, review books or the  items you have collected in the internet.

Type your collection of quotes up in a beautiful font and print them out.

You won't want to disrupt your process because you have to do a Google. search. You may not use all of these, but good to have on set.

Sticky notes in your fav colours.

Pens

My favourite gel pens, calligrafic pens etc.

Sissors

Champagne

I love to have  a glas of Champagne to celebrate this special moment, But if you feel like having rather a  cup of green tea, lemonade or kombucha you decide what is fine for you in that moment.

Music

Create a playlist  with inspiring music and bring positive emotions to the party. Did you know that our  brain is more in positive  vibes when we listen to 432 Hz? So do not make it a dance party but rather invite to dream.

3. Arrange your materials

Now, it’s time to prepare them to be displayed on your board.

In addition to images, you can find quotes to add to your board. You can print them out or write them yourself with a nice pen or marker.

Are there any items associated with memories from your life that spark the feeling you’re envisioning? If so, consider adding it to your board.

You can even add craft items like scraps of fabric. Or, you can include items from nature like tree branches if it makes sense with your goals. For instance, adding some leaves or pine needles could remind you that you want to spend more time in nature.

4. Place your vision board

If it’s work related, display it at your place of business

  • on your desk,
  • on the wall wall
  • next to your phone
  • as a screensaver on your desktop

WHERE VDO YOU WANT TO PLACE  YOUR VISION BOARD?

How to put your Vision into Action

We all know that dreaming and praying alone will not magically make these dreams come true by themselves. We still have to take a lot of actions. A lot of actions. But what actions? We are so busy and doing a lot of things every day. Are they aligned with your vision? Here is my experience. We do not have to look at the vision board daily. The process of creating such a board the right way will be like programming our subconscious in such a way that we suddenly seem to meet the right people, listen to the voices in our head, make better decisions when we set priorities, say the right words at the right moment, and see doors opening in front of us that we never could imagine.

What can be in our way of having our vision becoming a reality?

In my experience, most people never take the time to visualize, and even if they do, sometimes they never write it down or create images of their beautiful future in their mind.

The second biggest obstacle I see is the doubt in the possibility and stories we tell ourselves that limit our beliefs. The meaning we give to all kinds of challenges and catastrophes we experience in the present moment.

The key is giving yourself the chance to try to influence your own destiny before even attempting.

Remember a moment in your life where everything turned out the way you wanted.

If you want to get a little push in your life for creating a compelling vision and want to do the work by getting accountability, remember to focus on your goals and take the necessary steps to achieve them.

How can you get support?

  1. Get coached in the Vision into Action Coaching so that you start doing the things and feel supported and accountable.

  2. Join the Project Plan Academy where you can break down your big idea into manageable projects, create a visual representation of your project idea, develop a budget, and craft a pitch deck that you can use to share your vision with others to gain commitment and financing.
